We know, we know, the 'Should we maybe just elope?" question has probably already left your lips. Trust me, we get it. The whole idea of planning an engagement party, a hens party, a bridal shower, a bucks party, AND a wedding just seems overwhelming, and completely exhausting.
We highly recommend getting cosy on the couch, with a cup of tea, a timtam and reading our little guide.
12 Months to go
~ DRAFT A GUEST LIST ~
We know this is tough, but try to look at your guest list as a collection of the people you love the most, not a social obligation.
~ SET A BUDGET ~
This one is super important, be realistic, allow for some wiggle room, see where you need to add some more, take some out. This could change as you go, but it's important to have a firm base
~ FIND AND SECURE YOUR VENUES ~
Definitely have your budget and guest list complete before this part of the journey.
~ PUT TOGETHER YOUR WEDDING PARTY ~
Gather up your girl and guy gang, don't worry about rules, the number doesn't have to be even. Just choose people you love and go from there.
9 Months to go
~ ORDER YOUR DRESS ~
Time to start shopping! This part can be so fun if you choose the right people to be present, allow yourself enough time to relax, and contact your dream shops in advance.
~ BOOK THE CATERER, PHOTOGRAPHER, AND BAND OR DJ ~
If the venue doesn’t provide food, you’ll want to start looking into catering companies now. When hiring a photographer or videographer, ask to see an entire wedding he or she has shot, not just the highlights. Also secure the band or DJ for your big day.
~ ORDER SAVE THE DATES ~
We may be bias, but this is where the REAL fun begins. So. Put together a mood board, dream up your wedding stationery dreams and then shoot us a message. We can plan ALL of your event stationery to be seamless, beautiful, and consistent across all elements.
~ BOOK YOUR FLORIST ~
Get that moodboard you just created and show your florist- they will LOVE it. I can guarantee that.
~ HIRE THE OFFICIANT ~
Find someone who represents your personality as a couple. This is super important.
~ ORDER BRIDESMAID DRESSES ~
Good thing you've made that moodboard, girl, what colour will your bridesmaids be wearing? Silk or linen? Time to get that sorted. Be sure to be transparent with what you're willing to pay for.
3-4 Months to go
~ MAIL INVITATIONS ~
Oh hey, it's us again, let's design and send those invites. 3-4 months is the sweet spot for sending out invitations. This gives your guest enough time to look for accommodation, organise babysitters, book flights if necessary. You also want to allow enough time to give your vendors a finalised guest list.
~ PERSONALISE THE CEREMONY ~
Choose your music, order of events, timeline, all of those fun details. Write it down somewhere important.
~ BOOK THE HAIRSTYLIST AND MAKEUP ARTIST ~
Your Hair and Makeup artist should have this bit under control, they'll tell you where to be and when!
~ EVERYTHING SHOULD BE ORDERED ~
By this time, flowers, bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen outfits, gifts for your wedding party, as well as any extras for the wedding day. These include everything from cake knives and toasting glasses to guest books and candles.
2 Months to go
~ CHART, SCHEDULE, SIGN, AND PLAN ~
Us again, let's do seating charts, welcome signs, table stationery. Anything you might need to make the big day a little more seamless.
2 Weeks to go
~ FINAL DRESS FITTING ~
This is the last time you’ll try your gown on before your wedding day, make sure it’s perfect before you take it home.
~ CONFIRM DETAILS ~
Make sure your photographer knows the shot list and your band or DJ knows the playlist. Whoever’s decorating the reception site should be well informed, and transportation leaders should be assigned if lots of site-to-site guest travel is involved. Also run the final head count by your caterer. There’s nothing worse than too little food!
~ BREAK IN THOSE SHOES ~
Wear your wedding heels around the house – your feet will thank you later.
~ FINAL DETAILS ~
Get your nails done, hair done, any fake tans, finalise any little details you might have.
